A Level Biology

Safina was excellent, she listened to my son about the subjects he needed to cover and tailored her teaching style to make sure she fitted the maximum amount of information in because exams were imminent.  I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a Biology teacher.  Thanks again - Becca

A Level Biology

Safina has been great and so helpful in terms of helping me understand A level Biology. She teaches in an informative yet comfortable way that has resulted in Biology now being my favourite subject. I've gone up a whole grade and I couldn't have done it without her.

Thank you, Nawaal

DOB 1951

Qualifications:  Degree in History of Art.  PGCE.

I am a newly retired English teacher living in South Manchester with my Maths teacher husband and have 3 grown up sons.

I have had long experience of teaching in various contexts ranging from; special needs pupils in primary and secondary schools; adult learners in Further Education through to extensive private tuition in English.

I consider that I am very approachable and feel that it is very important to form a good relationship with anyone I teach.  In the first lesson, I carefully assess the tutee in order to know their strengths and weaknesses, discuss what they hope to achieve from lessons with me and give them an honest idea of what I consider to be achievable. I believe strongly in well directed and individualised learning which is thorough but fun.  I always set homework which is marked scrupulously and this often forms a part of the next lesson.  I have access to a large range of study material and to numerous past papers if required.

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with over six years’ experience teaching in Manchester schools, working with all year groups from reception to year six. For the past two years I have also worked as a private tutor which I now do full time, relishing the opportunity to work one to one with individual children, tailoring the teaching to that child’s learning style and so ensuring the child makes the best possible progress to succeed in school.

My years in teaching mean I am very aware of the progression and attainment expected at all ages within the primary school setting, and whilst I am now a full-time tutor, I keep up to date with all aspects of the national curriculum.

As a teacher and a tutor, I have been described during lesson observations and through parents’ feedback as having a calm demeanour and positive attitude.  I do strongly believe in being positive to raise children’s self-esteem and so make learning an enjoyable experience. It is a privilege to see the children I tutor gain in confidence and knowledge through my tailored help and support.

I recently worked with two girls who both got into Withington School for Girls

Primary (yr 6) maths tuition

Hannah has been really great with Morgan.  She is very approachable and has discussed his needs with us.  She does push him hard and he is working on things with her that he hasn’t covered fully at school which has also helped at school in return.  I have requested homework for him which she has provided each week and when he has struggled with it, she has gone through it with him and stayed at that level and not moved on to the next level with him until she feels he has a better understanding.  I would recommend her as she is patient but pushes him, has a good sense of humour, talks at his level and discusses progress with us.
